Lodge Brothers Woking Remembrance Window Display Makes the Papers!
Susan, our Funeral Arranger at Woking Branch managed to get an article printed in the Woking News & Mail about her Remembrance Day window display. The article read as follows:
EMPTY CHAIR FOR THE ONE WHO NEVER CAME HOME
A Woking funeral home dressed its window with a poignant empty chair to coincide with Remembrance Day.
Lodge Brothers, in Goldsworth Road, has joined the other branches around the country in making the tributes to the fallen all conflicts with the display that includes a copy of the News & Mail.
Susan Areington, a funeral arranger, said: “My idea was to depict ‘the empty chair’ in our window as a symbol of those vacant seats in our homes of relatives and friends we miss ‘lest we forget’.
“The edition of the News & Mail is on the chair and a cup on the table, a poignant reminder of daily life and the life that is missed.”
