Lodge Brothers Pre-Paid Funeral Plan Fulfils Final Wish of Ashford Resident
The benefit of pre-planning your funeral was in evidence recently, as the late Mr Luke Burden of Ashford had his wish fulfilled of travelling to his final resting-place by horse and cart.
Lodge Brothers were able to execute Mr Burden’s instructions, which had been written into his Lodge Brothers Funeral Plan some years before, and his last journey was a gentle ride which took him from his home to St Mary’s Church in Sunbury, and then on to his burial in the nearby cemetery.
His grandsons walked behind the cart, accompanying him the entire journey and a white limousine followed on with Mr Burden’s wife and other close family members.
Another dozen vehicles, including stretch limousines completed the cortege.
Richard Leachman, District Manager at Lodge Brothers, who conducted the funeral, commented: “It was an amazing sight, very special and everything that the family wanted. Walking with the family some of the way helped me understand both how proud they were of their grandfather and how pleased they were that they could give him all he desired.
