Lodge Brothers Host Remembrance Service
This year the annual service of Remembrance sponsored by Lodge Brothers Funeral Directors and was held at St Matthews Church. This was the third year running the family run local funeral directors held a service for their families. Over 230 people packed the church, last Sunday for a service lead by Father Ralph Horton with a poem read by Beverley Lodge and reading by Richard Leachman (Lodge Brothers District Manager). Egham Town Brass Band played during the service plus Robert Goodhew Saxophonist, and church choir.
The service was held for families who Lodge Brothers have helped over the last 18months, and who have lost a loved one in the Ashford area. During the service the congregation were invited to light a candles in memory.
The service coincided with Christmas Tree Week with local organisations and shopkeepers donating Christmas trees and lights. “It was a very moving and heartfelt service, especially when the lights were dimmed and the church was bathed in candle light and the twinkling lights from forty Christmas trees”, said Beverley Lodge “the choir sung Silent Night, and this was followed by a moment of reflection, while the saxophonist played ‘A Christmas Love Song’ by Johnny Mandel..”
