Knitted Poppies at Molesey Branch
November 8th, 2019
Ann and Carol at Molesey are displaying poppies knitted by a local ladies’ church group and also the moving WW1 poem “In Flanders Fields”. Penned by John McCrae it speaks of poppies growing between gravestones and how they represent the fallen soldiers who now lie in the ground. It’s interesting to note that in France, where all the poppies abundantly bloomed in the war-torn and disturbed land once the fighting was over, the people wear blue cornflowers as a symbol of Remembrance.
