A FITTING TRIBUTE TO AN ADVENTUROUS MAN
The family of the late Ernie Farmer wanted no ordinary funeral – but something special. Something that was fitting to the man who led life to the full. They wanted an inspirational funeral to celebrate an exceptional life.
With the help and support of Andrew Lodge and the Windsor branch of Lodge Brothers, a funeral reflecting the life of Ernie came together in a wonderful celebration.
The funeral, which was conducted by Andrew Lodge, took place on 7th March 2013.
Horse-lover Ernie made his final journey to All Saints Church, Binfield in horse-drawn carriage, with daughter Jane accompanying on horseback. On arriving at the church, Ernie was piped into church with great ceremony, and at the end, piped out again.
After the ceremony, Ernie was laid to rest in Thorpe Cemetery, reunited with his beloved wife Betty. At the committal, a final goodbye was marked with the release of a dove.
A funeral of this nature perfectly demonstrates how death can provide an opportunity to celebrate life, and Ernie’s family were thankful that they had been able to send him off in style.
