Lodge Home

Lodge Brothers is a renowned family run funeral directors who have been specialising in funerals since 1780 with over 40 established branches in West London, Middlesex, Surrey and Berkshire. We are immensely proud to still be family owned and currently run by the seventh generation of the Lodge family and we continue to grow organically year upon year.

With over 230 years of experience of arranging and conducting funerals as well as designing/producing memorials, we have encountered nearly every situation involved with personalising funerals. We are looking for great people to join our ever growing team. As the funeral profession is such a unique one we do not expect you to have previous funeral experience. We look for other important skills such as client service, administration, communication and team working skills and above all the desire to help and support people at such a difficult time in their lives.

We pride ourselves on providing all new employees with a comprehensive induction training programme. We also have a dedicated training team who will support you every step of the way throughout your induction. Once established in the business there are regular opportunities to further develop your knowledge in your role and gain industry approved qualifications.

TYPICAL ROLES WITHIN LODGE BROTHERS

HEAD OFFICE
At our head office in Feltham we have a range of different administrative roles and departments – from accounting to legal services.
“ As soon as I'd had my first interview I knew that I really wanted to work for this company. It's a perfect balance between working for a business and being in a caring profession. The work is rewarding, and I feel as if I make a difference - everybody is passionate and proud of their work. The company is professional and the training is thorough, but somehow it doesn't feel corporate; it genuinely feels like a big family.”
Susanne – Funeral Planning Department, Head Office
FUNERAL ARRANGER
A Funeral Arranger may well be the first point of contact for a family needing to arrange a funeral for their loved one. It is the Funeral Arranger’s job to help, support and guide families, make all funeral arrangements, complete legal paperwork and look after the deceased at their branch.
“Making the decision to change career at my age was not easy. After teaching for nearly 30 years I wanted a job that was similarly fulfilling. After answering the advertisement to work for Lodge Brothers, I have never looked back. The training is exemplary and the support continued once I was managing my own branch. I am learning day-to-day and there are opportunities for ongoing progression within the company.”
Victoria – Funeral Arranger, Lightwater
“One thing that really struck me when I joined, is the pride we all take in doing a good job and helping families through a difficult time. I was also impressed by how many people said they really enjoyed working for Lodge Brothers.”
Peter – Funeral Arranger, Walton
“It’s a privilege to be able to help people in their time of need, and to really make a difference in their lives.”
Susan - Funeral Arranger, Woking
RELIEF FUNERAL ARRANGERS
Relief Funeral Arrangers complete all the same tasks as a Funeral Arranger but also provide branch cover for absences, assist colleagues when branches are busy, help setup and establish new Lodge Brothers branches and complete home visits with clients.
"The role of relief Funeral arranger appealed to me as I am happy to be mobile and move around branches which uses my skills very well as I have to be organised, a good communicator, able to problem solve on the spot and pick up from colleagues. I have also supported the District Manager and Directors with new initiatives and I have had detailed initial training and undertaken my Certificate in Funeral arranging and administration so I feel I am very supported to achieve in this role. ”
Sheila – Relief Funeral Arranger
FUNERAL OPERATIVE
Funeral Operatives are responsible for bringing the deceased into our care from the place of death, whether that be a residence, nursing home, hospital or public mortuary; driving the hearse or limousine and acting as a bearer on funerals, which involves carrying the coffin on their shoulder as part of a team of 4 or 6 bearers; assisting in the workshop with the preparation of coffins and respectfully dressing the deceased and preparing them in their coffin ready for the funeral.
“I chose to work for Lodge Brothers Funeral Directors because of their traditional values and well-established reputation. They truly are a family business, providing an outstanding service to the local community. From my first day, I was given training in all aspects of my job with support and help of the highest level. Lodge Brothers provide not just job satisfaction but an all-round fulfilling career.”
Nick - Funeral Operative, Feltham
“Lodge Brothers appealed to me as it is a family business. Since starting, they have provided me with the resources to develop myself and begin a new career. Now every day is different and rewarding. I can’t express the feeling you get from helping families at a time when they need it most, and with the support and advice from the Lodge Brothers team behind you, you never feel alone.”
Chris – Funeral Operative, Byfleet
FUNERAL CONDUCTOR
The Conductor is the person in charge on the day of the funeral. The Conductor is responsible for ensuring that the funeral runs perfectly and to the exact requests of the client.
“Every day is different. Different clients, churches, crematoria and cemeteries, ministers and colleagues. No two days are ever the same. The only constant is that we all want to make sure that the whole funeral experience is delivered to our clients without any problems. We also have the opportunity to make what is possibly the worst day of someone’s life just that little bit more bearable, and that gives me such a tremendous sense of achievement.”
James – Funeral Conductor, Feltham
